Fighting them on the bleeches
In our world, leadership and powerful communication are interlinked. The people who end up with power have an ability to reach out and make people connect with them. Winston Churchill and Boris Johnson were trained as journalists, Barack Obama was an extremely powerful orator. Even Donald Trump, who has no grasp over long form communication can use short form Twitter to get his point across.
Where Trump came unstuck is that because the lack of long form thinking was often present in his strategy as well as his writing.
Sometimes it’s only when you have to put something in writing that you see how convoluted or problematic the thinking is. The process of making something clear and refined is the process of asking how you’re going to lead people into adopting it. Leadership and communication are inseparable concepts.
